Research-use-only peptides, and the suppliers who sell them

The compounds in this library are written about as research subjects. Some of them are also sold openly as laboratory reagents, labelled research use only — not for human consumption. This page explains exactly what that label means, what to demand before you spend anything, and lists the research suppliers we link to.

Supplier links on this page are affiliate links and are disclosed as such. A commission never changes what we publish, and no supplier sees a page before it goes live.

What RUO means

Four things the label is telling you

Research use only is not marketing shorthand for “not yet approved.” It is a legal and practical statement about what the vial is, who checked it, and who is accountable for it.

A laboratory reagent

An RUO vial is sold as material for in-vitro research. That is its entire intended use, and the label states it.

No pharmacy in the chain

Nothing was dispensed. No licensed 503A or 503B pharmacy verified identity, potency or sterility of what arrived.

Quality control is your reading

What you can check is paperwork: the certificate of analysis, the method used, and the batch number on your own vial.

Legality is not uniform

Research-chemical status differs by country and by state, and some compounds are scheduled outright. Selling to researchers and using it in a body are different questions.

Reading a certificate of analysis

Six checks worth doing before you order

Nobody regulates the buyer side of this market, which is precisely why the paperwork is the only quality control you get.

A certificate of analysis for your batch

Not a sample COA from the product page. The lot number printed on your vial should match the lot number on the document you were sent.

Identity and purity by HPLC and mass spectrometry

Those two methods together are the baseline. A purity percentage with no method behind it tells you nothing about what is in the vial.

A lab you can look up independently

Ask which laboratory ran the assay, then go and find it. Anonymous internal testing is a claim, not evidence.

Sterility and endotoxin results, if sterility is implied

A sealed vial and a rubber stopper are not sterility testing. If nobody measured endotoxin, nobody knows.

Cold chain and handling

Lyophilised and reconstituted peptides degrade. How it was stored and shipped matters as much as how it tested.

The law where you actually live

Check your own jurisdiction before you order anything. Research-chemical status is not portable across borders or states.

Walk away if you see

  • Purity quoted to two decimals with no chromatogram attached
  • “Pharmaceutical grade” or “FDA approved” language on a research chemical
  • No company identity, no address, payment only by irreversible method
  • Human dosing, cycles and injection instructions marketed alongside the vial
  • A certificate of analysis that never names the testing laboratory

Research suppliers we link to

These vendors sell laboratory reagents labelled research use only. We list them for the paperwork they publish — batch-level testing, named laboratories, usable certificates — not because we endorse what anyone does with a vial.

No research-use-only suppliers are listed yet. Every partner added in the admin panel with this listing appears here automatically.

Some supplier links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we publish or how we rank compounds.

The other route

If you want a clinician making the call

A research vial and a prescription are not two price points of the same thing. One is a reagent with no clinical oversight; the other is an evaluation by a physician licensed in your state, and — only if they judge it appropriate — medication from a licensed compounding pharmacy.

Physician-guided peptides

Whichever page you came from: nothing here is medical advice, and neither route is a recommendation.
